Summary:

Zoom, written by two correspondents for The Economist, is a discussion of the problems that result from our dependence on oil, and some of the solutions that are taking shape.  It discusses how the oil and auto industries grew together to become the giants they now are; why the Detroit automakers are suffering while Toyota experiences runaway success; and why the world’s dependence on oil is unsustainable for political, economic, and environmental reasons.  Zoom then explains some of the possible solutions and where they are being developed.  It’s hard to put this book in a nutshell, but here are some snippets to give you a picture of what it’s all about:

Welcome!

Update 1/8/2012: If you’ve been redirected here from my other site, FromtheFencepost.com, don’t be alarmed.  Due to some problems with that site, I’ve moved all of its content over to this site, SneakyReader.com.  All the reviews and how-to’s are now posted here, and I’m working on getting everything properly assimilated.  My Google Voice how-to’s can be found here.

Due to changing priorities, I’m not posting as much as I used to.  I probably won’t be writing any more book reviews in the foreseeable future, but all my old reviews are still here.  I may continue to write reviews and how-to’s for electronic devices when the urge strikes.

This has been all over the headlines, but in case anyone missed it, John McCain’s campaign recently produced an ad comparing Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.  Paris Hilton responded by producing a parody of McCain’s ad in which she calls him “the oldest celebrity in the world.”

You need to see the McCain ad first to understand the humor in the Hilton spoof.  If you’ve already seen it, skip directly to the second video.

Disclaimer: This is not an endorsement of either political candidate.  My political views are private, and this is not a political site.  I show these videos because I think they are funny.  Your results may vary.  :)
